Phantom Bounce, 2013, 11x 15 in, monotypes
Printed with Marina Ancona/10 Grand Press

Phantom Bounce refers to the condition of the phantom limb, where the body continues to feel the presence (often in the form of a residual pain) of a body part that has been removed. The bounce is the ghost sensation of movement, post double mastectomy, something both my mother and I have experienced. The phantom could refer not only to a past but to a future self, or to states of becoming, as can the bounce refer to potential changes, actions, possibilities.
